Knightsbridge
If you’re looking for a posh, quiet area with great high end shopping.
One of London’s Most Affluent Areas
You definitely know you’re in a well off neighborhood when in Knightsbridge. Quiet, beautiful streets filled with Regency architecture and private gardens create a feeling of peace whilst being very close to central London. Plus it is home to London’s largest green space, Hyde Park.
Knightsbridge is also home to two of the most decadent five star hotels in London, the Mandarin Oriental and The Bulgari Hotel and the city’s nicest rooftop hotel pool at The Berkeley.
And if you like high end shopping you are in for a treat with Harrods and Harvey Nichols only a short walk from each other and Sloane Street featuring some of the most famous luxury brands in the world.
Five-star hotels in Knightsbridge
My Recommendation
The Lanesborough
The AA is the main source for five star hotel rankings in London and in 2023 it made The Lanesborough its hotel of the year. This London five-star hotel has it all, from a Bridgerton Afternoon Tea to a 24-hour butler for every guest to the very impressive Lanesborough Club and Spa. As you may have guessed, this is one of the most expensive five-star hotels in London and about as close as you will get to feeling like you’re staying in a palace.
The Berkeley
The Berkeley still looks fresh after 100 years, particularly with its rare gem of a London rooftop pool and one of the most popular patisseries in town from Cedric Grolet. There are wonderful views of Hyde Park and all the luxuries you would expect. However, Marcus Wareing is gone as is the popular Pret a Portea afternoon tea.
Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park
The Mandarin Oriental has been an expert in luxury hotels for over 60 years, and its London hotel is no exception. Michelin star restaurants, outstanding spa and fitness facilities and one of the best locations of any hotel in London, it would be impossible to be disappointed by the Mandarin Oriental.
Bulgari Hotel
As would expect from the famous Bulgari brand, this is one of the most decadent five-star hotels in London. Whilst the design and delivery is flawless, when you stay at the Bulgari you could be at any luxury hotel anywhere in the world.
The Capital Hotel
It is surprising that The Capital Hotel is five star. Compared to most of the other five star hotels on this website, The Capital looks and feels outdated and offers very little in terms of five star amenities and experiences.
The Egerton House Hotel
With just 28 rooms, the Egerton House Hotel is a truly elegant boutique experience delivered in a classic British manner down to its famous martinis. If you’re looking for small, personal and private this is the Knightsbridge boutique hotel for you.
Top Attractions in Knightsbridge
Kensington is more about atmosphere and shopping versus traditional tourist sites. If you want to feel like a Londoner head to Hyde Park when the weather is warm and Harvey Nichols (not Harrods) when you’re in the mood for fashion.
Hyde Park
London’s largest green space at 350 acres and home to the Serpentine, Speaker’s Corner, Kensington Palace, major concerts and lots of happy Londoners on a sunny day.
Harrods & Harvey Nichols
Harrods for souvenirs and the food hall, Harvey Nichs for fashion and to feel like a local (alas, locals don’t shop at Harrods).
Wellington Arch
The original entrance to Buckingham Palace, Wellington Arch later became a Victory Arch and is topped by the largest bronze sculpture in Europe.
Bonhams Auction House
Founded in 1793, Bonhams is one of the world’s largest and best known auctioneers. Attend an auction or pop in for a viewing.
The London Oratory
The second largest church in London after Westminster Abbey, this impressive church was built in Italian baroque style in 1884.
Apsley House
Once known as Number 1 London, this Georgian building was owned by the first Duke of Westminster and has both stunning interiors and one of the finest art collections in London.

Michelin star dinning from one of the UK’s most famous chefs in one of its most decadent hotels, the Mandarin Oriental.

Tucked down a small alleyway, virtually every inch of this boozer features some quirky item.
The Bunch of Grapes
Snob screens, rare back-painted mirrors and lots of images of grapes, head back in time at this charming pub.
The Beauchamp
Four floors of dining and drinking just a stone’s throw from Harrods and Harvey Nichols.
